About Riara Springs Girls' High School

Riara Springs Girls High School (RSGHS) was founded in 2000 with the ultimate aim of empowering the Girl-child (ages of 14-18) in an environment which seeks to foster self-confidence, reliance and independence.

We focus on holistic education with deliberate structures put in place to cultivate the intellectual, emotional, social, spiritual and physical development of the learner. Girls are encouraged to become critical thinkers, innovators and decision makers.

The learning activities aim to bring out the skills and experience that young people require to meet the challenges and dynamics of a fast changing world. The multi-cultural environment attracts students from all parts of Kenya and beyond, thus creating social understanding and tolerance, and an appreciation of the beauty that is found in diversity.

Empowering Programmes

We provide empowerment programmes that harness the students’ full potential. Each student leaves the school all-rounded and with an added advantage over their peers in terms of leadership, entrepreneurship, innovativeness and talent exposure.

DELF PROGRAMME (Diplôme de la langue Française)

Over the years our students have participated in this programme with excellent results. DELF confers an international certification in the French language and is open to students who have studied French for at least one year at the secondary school level.

Leadership Seminars

Every year, the school organises leadership seminars to equip students with basic decision-making skills, crisis management, and the importance of integrity and role modelling. The programme is offered to all student leaders.

Peer Counsellors

The peer counselling programme empowers students with leadership skills, social responsibility and a sense of belonging. The peer counsellors are identified from the student body and, working closely with guidance and counselling team, provide psycho-social support to their fellow students.

Junior Achievement Movement (JA)

The JA Movement has been vibrant over the years and has given the students an opportunity to partner with the business community, educators and volunteers who help students to become entrepreneurial thinkers, financially literate and ultimately contribute to the well-being of their communities and the world.

Over the years, our students have successfully completed company programmes where they come up with business names, ideas, and learn how to raise capital and run the company for a pre-determined trading period.

After completion of the company programme, the students spend a day with professionals of their choice through a job shadow experience which help in shaping future career paths. After completion, the members take part in Corporate Social Responsibility events as a way of giving back to the community.

World Scholars Cup

An exciting addition to our academic and non-academic programmes is the World Scholars Cup. The WSC gathers scholars from all over the world in a tournament that stimulates the intellectual, social and global awareness of young minds.
This year, RSGHS was privileged to qualify for the World Scholars Cup Tournament of Champions at Yale University after qualifying at the global round of the competition in Cape Town.

Model United Nations

After a short hiatus occasioned by the COVID-19 Pandemic, RSGHS is once again proud to participate in the East Africa Model of the United Nations (EAMUN).
